Who am I?

I’m Dr. Gaston Weisz, Psy.D.
NYS Licensed Psychologist
NYS Certified School Psychologist
Adjunct Instructor at Adelphi University

As a school psychologist since 1990 I strive to improve educational and parenting practices and the overall school environment in addition to the traditional roles I assume in the areas of evaluations, consultation and interventions. My interests include positive behavior interventions and supports and providing relevant psychological and educational education to parents and teachers. In my school psychology podcast and blog I hope to provide insights, education and a little entertainment to anyone interested in psychology and education.

I have been in Private Practice since 1994. I continue to find gratification in helping people with a wide range of needs. I participate in several insurance plans and also work with clients who do not use insurance. Treatment should be uniquely designed for each individual client. My approach in psychology is to focus on evidence-based and practical treatment approaches, including education about symptom management, child development and parenting skills, professional assessments, cognitive-behavioral and traditional behavioral treatments and consultation.

As an instructor, whether in staff development, university teaching or supervising interns, I enjoy the ability to share from my skill and knowledge base. However, the collaboration with students and teachers in a learning environment also adds immeasurably to my own knowledge and skills. I have been enjoying the opportunity to extend the boundaries of education by starting a podcast, blog and discussion board.
